A double post today…I just couldn’t let this one go.
As residents evacuated their homes up and down the Northeast earlier this week, American Apparel thought it was the perfect time for a sale – “In case you’re bored during the storm.” The event, emailed out last night was called the “SandySale” and offered 20% off everything for the next 36 hours alongside a map of the affected states (the sale was only available in states impacted by Hurricane Sandy). Needless to say, the Twitter consensus quickly buried the company for making lemonade from tears.
So what lessons can we take away from seeking opportunity during disaster?
Lesson 1: Don’t do it.
Lesson 2: Don’t deviate from lesson 1…ever.
