Nestle has had an image problem for years. The company is now using social media to take the offensive in a public relations battle that dates back decades to its marketing of baby milk formula in developing countries.
Nestle’s latest social media push is for it’s Hot Pockets brand via YouTube videos. Leading the charge is Snoop Dogg’s remix of his hit “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and a follow up “making of” video featuring comedian Judah Friedlander of 30 Rock fame (both videos below). The posts have been huge hits for Nestle with the Snoop Dogg music video racking up more than 4 million views alone since October 10. The verdict is still out though on whether this approach will improve Nestle’s brand.
While many of us do not have the budget to hire celebrities we can still learn from these latest success stories…comedy sells.
