We Welcome Outsiders

Expectations are there to be changed.

This morning when I awoke, I was less than eager to join my wife and mother-in-law for wine tasting in Napa Valley. I had my reasons, mainly the fact that I do not drink alcohol and as a vegan, I would not be partaking in the locally sourced cheese platters.

I expected to be greeted by vineyard staff members and their disapproving squints, questioning looks, and pointed fingers shunning me to the car to sit out the tastings.

Instead glasses of ginger ale, exotic nibbles, and questions of whether I was pleased with the service greeted me.

Today I once again learned not to expect the worst from people.
